Assessment Services
Evaluation services are tailored to fit the needs of the individual. These include:
- Psychological and Educational Testing
- Gifted and Twice-Exceptional (2e)
- Accommodations Evaluations
- Psychological Evaluations for Family Building
Components of a typical evaluation
These will vary depending on the reasons for testing. A comprehensive evaluation may include:
- Interview with caregivers
- Interview with the individual being tested
- Gathering information from a therapist, teacher, or other person who knows the individual
- Observation in school or other setting
- Approximately 2-8 hours of face-to-face testing in the office
- Questionnaires completed by family members, teachers, individual being tested
- Written report describing the individual and their history, test results, summary and conclusions, and recommendations
- Feedback session with caregivers or the individual (adults)
- Feedback session with child and caregivers (when appropriate)
Testing is typically conducted over 1-3 sessions, with each session lasting 1-3 hours. Frequent breaks may be needed, and bringing snacks and drinks is recommended. Sometimes testing is scheduled with a morning and afternoon session, with a break for lunch in between. Younger children often benefit from shorter testing appointments. I have weekend appointments available for individuals or families who prefer to not take time off from school/work or who are traveling from outside of the Portland area.
